In February 2020, six families with young children (totaling 26 people) from our church are heading to Nosara, Costa Rica to serve the local population. Several years ago, Daniel and Maria Valverde planted Iglesia Casa Vida (House of Life Church) in Nosara, Costa Rica. The local population is primarily illiterate farmers and construction workers; there is also a separate expat community comprised of surfers and yogis with a very strong Buddhist and Hindu presence. Daniel and Maria connected with Tiffany and Paulo Dos Santos (leaders in our church’s Kids and Worship ministries) a year ago and through that relationship, began to see the amazing work our church is doing to reach families in and around Morgan Hill. Daniel and Maria reached out to ask if Morgan Hill Bible Church would be able to bring a team down to provide a similar type of training for parents and children so that their church could be equipped to provide this type of ministry in their community. As we started talking about possibilities, God began to create a vision for young families with their kids to head to Costa Rica to impact the local community there, and for us to learn from believers in another part of the world. We are very excited to pioneer a trip that impacts so many of our local families, and is a direct response to the requests of the local ministry in Nosara. We are also excited for what God is already doing in us, and for what God wants to do through us.
